Des Moines, Iowa hosted the annual American Junior Simmental National Classic, July 7-13. Over 600 Junior contestants competed for the Overall Title to earn the Swiss Bell. Sara Sweat, a resident of McCaskill and student at Southern Arkansas University, claimed the Bell by earning the highest aggregate score in Public Speaking, Cattlemen’s Quiz, Genetic Evaluation Test, Livestock Judging, Sales Talk, Showmanship, and the Breed Show. Anna, a student at Spring Hill High School, gained a larger platform in the organization by being elected Trustee of the National Junior Board, who has a membership in excess of 3,200, nationwide.
